The Free Lands
Greater Magic Circle
Intricate layers upon layers of warding glyphs and components complete to form a perfect circle emblazoned on the floor. A steady hum and glow of power emanates from the circle
Time: At least 6 hours
Duration: Until broken
Component Cost: 7.500 gp
Market Price: 15.000 gp
Key Skill: Arcana
The Magic Circle makes it difficult for creatures of a particular origin to enter or pass. When performing the ritual, you choose a specific set of creatures or some other method of passing the barrier. All other creatures and objects are barred access and unable to affect the boundary in any way unless their level is higher than your arcana check result minus 10. Other creatures of an affected origin take force damage equal to your Arcana check result when passing through the boundary, but doing so breaks the circle. Unaffected creatures can take a standard action to obscure the inscription and break the circle. The circle requires 5 minutes to inscribe per square inside the circle (and it must be a circle). Common choices for allowing someone to pass include special brooches worn by guards, or members of a specific family, etc.
You transfer layer upon layer of enchantment from one item to the other, carefully preserving its power.
Time: 2 hours
Component Cost: 1/10th of the magic item price.
Market Price: 5.000 gp
Key Skill: Arcana (no check)
You remove all magical properties from one magic item and immediately transfer them unto another item of the appropriate type. Enchantments which only work on specific items cannot be transferred to other items of a different type (i.e., transferring a cloth armor only magic item property to a plate armor). Trying to do so automatically fails the ritual without expenditure of the components. Artifacts and other such powerful magical items cannot be affected by this ritual. If you wish to exchange the magical properties of two items you must perform this ritual twice in succession.
